International Institute of Social and Societal Audit
The Institut International de l’Audit Social et Sociétal (IAS) is a non-profit academic association founded in Paris on 27 December 1982. It has 845 members, researchers, practitioners and students who work on social audit, societal audit and the measurement of the impact of organisations.
The Institute was created around Raymond Vatier, its founding president, by three French professional bodies: ANDCP, IFACI and Entreprise et Personnel. For more than four decades it has linked academic research and professional practice, in French-speaking countries and beyond.
What the Institute does
- Scientific conferences. Since 1982 the IAS has held 67 Social Audit Universities, its spring, summer and autumn conferences, in 39 cities across 16 countries, from Montréal to Beijing and from Dakar to Geneva. Each University includes a doctoral workshop for PhD and DBA candidates.
- Publications. The proceedings of the Universities form a body of more than 5,000 texts over four decades, an archive of research on social and societal audit.
- The Raymond Vatier Prize. Named after the founder, the prize rewards dissertations and theses at every level, from bachelor’s and master’s work to DBA and PhD theses and habilitations, as well as business cases.
- A Scientific Council chaired by Professor Jean-Marie Peretti (ESSEC Business School).
